What We Do
Occupational and Physical Therapy help children to build new skills to develop a strong foundation for learning. Our customized programs cover a wide range of therapeutic needs individualized for your child, including:
- A comprehensive approach geared specifically towards your child’s therapeutic success.
- Provide a total therapy environment designed specifically for the infant, young child or adolescent.
- Create a supportive atmosphere where parents are active partners in their child’s progress.
- Design individual and group sessions emphasizing hands-on therapy, kid-friendly play and home programs.
At Good Beginnings we believe that parents are an integral part of the therapeutic process. Because much of the day is spent at home with families, parents and caregivers have unique opportunities to help their children expand on skills learned in therapy. The Good Beginnings philosophy entails teaching and training to carry out home programs tailored for their child’s needs. Contact Us
Customized Orthotics and Splinting
Orthotic and splints are devices that are used to provide support and improve body alignment. Early fabrication of orthotics for children helps to provide a solid postural foundation for the body to grow on. We have therapists trained in casting and fitting for customized Cascade orthotics. www.dafo.com Contact Us
We have therapists trained in advanced levels of the Therapeutic Listening approach. This approach is based on the use of specially modified audio files via CD’s or MP3. Listening is an evidence-based protocol, combining sound-based intervention with activities to create a comprehensive program effective for diverse populations. Listening can impact sensory modulation, attention, behavior, organization, and speech-language difficulties. This program can be implemented for home use and monitored in the clinic. Craniosacral is a gentle, hands-on treatment method that helps to organize and reset the craniosacral system. The craniosacral system is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid which surrounds the brain and spinal cord. Craniosacral therapy uses light touch to release restrictions within the craniosacral system and improve the balance of the neurological system. Conditions indicated to benefit from this technique include (but are not limited to): autism, colic, migraines, motor coordination difficulties, learning disabilities, and other conditions treated by occupational and physical therapists. Myofascial Release is a beneficial hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into connective tissue restrictions to increase range of motion, improve body alignment and balance of the body. This is a holistic treatment approach which is calming and comforting to the child. Contact Us
Our physical therapists are trained to analyze the components of your child’s walking via footprint, visual and video analysis. This assessment allows us to custom design treatment programs and exercises to address any difficulties with walking, excessive tripping and falling, or difficulties with running. Contact Us
