Parent / Caregiver Education

At Good Beginnings we believe that parents are an integral part of the therapeutic process. Because much of the day is spent at home with families, parents and caregivers have unique opportunities to help their children expand on skills learned in therapy. The Good Beginnings philosophy entails teaching and training to carry out home programs tailored for their child's needs.

Customized Orthotics and Splinting

Orthotic and splints are devices that are used to provide support and improve body alignment. Early fabrication of orthotics for children helps to provide a solid postural foundation for the body to grow on. We have therapists trained in casting and fitting for customized Cascade orthotics. www.dafo.com

Therapeutic Listening

We have therapists with advanced level training in the Therapeutic Listening approach. The program entails the use of specially modified CDs and is typically carried out in the home setting. "Therapeutic Listening is an evidence-based protocol that combines a sound-based intervention with sensory integrative activities to create a comprehensive program that is effective for diverse populations with sensory challenges.Therapeutic Listening can impact sensory modulation, attention, behavior, postural organization, and speech and language difficulties." www.vitallinks.net The program entails the use of specially modified CDs and is typically carried out in the home setting.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method that helps to organize the craniosacral system. The craniosacral system is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid which surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Craniosacral therapy uses light touch to release restrictions within the craniosacral system and improve the balance of the neurological system. Conditions for which craniosacral therapy is often used include autism, colic, migraines, motor-coordination impairments, learning disabilities and other conditions often treated by occupational and physical therapists.

Myofascial Therapy

Myofascial Release is a beneficial hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into connective tissue restrictions to increase range of motion, improve body alignment and balance of the body. This is a holistic treatment approach which is calming and comforting to the child.

Gait Analysis

Our physical therapists are trained to analyze the components of your child's walking via footprint, visual and video analysis. This assessment allows us to custom design treatment programs and exercises to address any difficulties with walking, excessive tripping and falling, or difficulties with running.
